Screen time often begins because a parent needs a few minutes and ends when everyone is already stretched. Repeated warnings, bargaining and long explanations can make the transition even harder.
Screen-Off Rescue was created around a different question: how can we make the entire transition clearer before the screen even begins?
The PAUSE approach combines a visible stopping point, consistent language, helpful device settings, prepared next-step choices and a simple response ladder for big feelings. It is practical, respectful and free from blame. The goal is not a perfectly happy ending every time. The goal is a more predictable routine and a steadier response for the adult to follow.

- Turn off autoplay and prepare two realistic activities your child can choose from afterwards.
- Show or say the plan before the screen begins.
- Give one reminder and use the short screen-finished script when the agreed ending arrives.
- Use the response ladder if your child becomes upset, and track the pattern for seven days before changing the plan.
Important limits
- Screen-Off Rescue is a practical routine-support tool for caregivers of children approximately ages 2–5. It does not diagnose or treat addiction, autism, ADHD, sensory differences or any medical or developmental condition. It cannot promise that every tantrum will stop.
- Please seek advice from a pediatrician or another qualified professional when reactions are severe, persistent, unsafe or concerning. Seek urgent local help if you cannot keep your child or other people safe.
